The Power of a Shower
I don’t know about anyone else but the thing that I looked forward to the most after having my baby was Hot…Steamy…SS….Showers. Let me paint a picture for you. You have been up several hours or days, and you have worn the same clothes, which are now covered in breast milk, formula, diaper cream, powder, and some foreign yellow stuff. Not to mention the smell of boob sweat as you have not even thought about putting on a bra, seeing how they need to be assessable more times than not. Of course, let’s not forget about the hair that has been tied up in a bun or ponytail of some sort. At this point you are a hot mess, not only physically, but emotionally too.
Women we know that how we look and smell can impact how we feel. The best pick me up during times like these are showers. Showers are a time when you can strip away the day(s) literally and wash it all down the drain. Once you are behind that curtain or door, your shower becomes your oasis. This is your time to be alone, to cry, relieve your engorged breast, or just be. What is awesome, is that there are amazing products out now, that can take your shower experience to a whole other level. Shower steamers, like the ones included in the Cater to Mom box, not only smell great but provide a relaxing element, which creates a spa-like aura to your shower.
After a shower like that, you can’t help but feel clean and rejuvenated. Remember taking care of yourself helps you take care of your baby. Let family and friends watch the baby and recharge with a shower, and when there is no one around, put your sleeping baby in their baby bouncer and place them in the bathroom with you. Even today with a 9-year-old, I still find my happy place in the shower. Don’t underestimate the power of a shower!
